Well this will be the last post in this series, I hope you've found it useful. If it's helped you in your blogging journey, or if you have any suggestion for me (I've still got a lot to learn myself!), leave a comment I'd love to hear from you.
In this post we're going to look at monetizing your blog. There are many ways you can do this. Now I'm relatively new to this monetizing thing, but I have some experience with a couple of methods, which I'll discuss here.
For a great article on this subject, with many more ways to monetize your blog that I'm not going to get into here, checkout Darren Rowse take on the subject in his article Make Money Blogging at Pro Blogger. His site is one of the best tools out there for Bloggers, and I highly recommend it.
Google AdSense
This is a great source of revenue for bloggers. It's pretty straight forward to. Just type in Google AdSense in Google to get started. Once there, follow the instructions to copy and paste the code to your site. Place it where it will be visible and readily accessible, I've found the sidebar to be the best place for this, and then just activate it on your blog.
Google will also need you to provide them with postal and banking information before you can get started. Once you've done this they'll send you a code in the mail for verification purposes. That's it you're up and running! Don't forget it's up to you to drive the traffic to your site in order to benefit from AdSense. For more help with this, see my previous posts on the subject in the archives section here.
Amazon Affiliates Program
The Amazon Affiliate program is another good way you can make money form your blog. You won't get rich, but it can be a good source of revenue. At the Amazon affiliate programs website, you will need to sign up as a member before you can get started.
Once you have you will have several choices of ads you can place on your site. Choose the one that's right for you. Remember, you want to make money but you don't want to overwhelm your visitors with ads! Just like with AdSense, you will need to paste the code to your site.
Amazon will send you an automated phone call to verify you're human! After your membership is verified you will receive a percentage of the purchases that are made by click throughs from your site. This is normally by cheque to your specified mailing address.
I hope this series has provided you with some tools to get you started. I know it was difficult for me in the beginning with all the information that's out there on the subject. My goal was to put the basics together in one place for you to make your journey a little easier. Let me know how you're making out on your own personal journey, I'd love to hear from you!
