How to Become Successful, Be Persistent

Success doesn't happen overnight. It doesn't matter how educated you are, or how much talent you have, you still have to put in long hours to be successful. Whatever your chosen field, you must be persistent to succeed.

Persistence means never giving up and never giving in, and that's the challenge. The difference between someone that succeeds and someone that fails, is the ability to keep going when everything seems to be conspiring against them. It really is just a state of mind.

The real question is how do you achieve this state of mind? Is there an innate capability in all of us? The simple answer is yes. Everyday, people of humble origins refuse to let their circumstance dictate their path in life. They rise above their situation.

How do they do it? In many cases, the support and guidance of charitable and volunteer organisations are instrumental. Everyone needs a hand once in a while. To be a success you can't be afraid to accept help when it's offered, but you still need to have the right state of mind.

An individual that succeeds in spite of the odds stacked against them, is one who was not afraid to accept a little help when it was offered. There are countless organisations in every city dedicated to helping people achieve great things.

A good example of this is Inner City Angels in Toronto. They provide access to the arts for children that would otherwise have little exposure to this medium of expression. This is just one example, there are many. The real point I want to make here, is that opportunity exists. Don't let the difficult position you find yourself in at the moment deter you.

You can't always control your situation, but you most certainly can control how you react to it. Don't let financial problems, physical limitations, or any other problem prevent you from achieving your goals. Be persistent and you will get there. Look around you for inspiration. There will always be people just like you, in similar situations, that have managed to rise above the moment and achieve great things.

How about you? Have you been persistent in your approach to achieving your goals? If not, it's never too late to start. Leave a comment. I'd love to hear what you do to keep working towards those goals. I'm always looking for ideas!
